Little Giants from Miele: a new refrigerant for eco-friendly drying

-
Heat pump and propane reduce global warming potential
-
For a capacity of eight kilograms, three series available
Miele’s Little Giants appliances are ideal for situations that involve washing large quantities of laundry on a daily basis but have little space available to do so. These compact washing machines and tumble dryers offer load capacities of six to eight kilograms and take up just half a square metre of space. Now the heat-pump dryers available in the range use propane, an eco-friendly natural gas refrigerant.
Propane is a much better option for the climate and reduces the global warming potential by almost 100 percent compared to previous appliances. Over a period of ten years, a new Miele heat-pump dryer loaded to capacity will produce 14,375 kg less CO2 than a comparable vented dryer from the previous generation. In addition, the new dryer will save almost €10,000 in electricity costs over this period compared to the older model.
The technology used in the Little Giants range is designed to stand up to high demands: for example, by dewatering all fabrics extremely effectively during washing machine spin cycles. This significantly reduces residual moisture, leading to shorter programme running times even in heat-pump dryers. An easy-to-read clear text display allows users to select programmes quickly and intuitively – in more than 32 languages and with a delay start option. Pairs of machines can also be combined in a space-saving stack format.
The washing machines and tumble dryers are available in Evolution, Performance and Performance Plus series, the latter of which includes more than 60 wash programmes.15 of these ensure reliable disinfection that meets the requirements of the German Association for Applied Hygiene (VAH) and the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).
Flexible installation
Even more flexibility is provided by plinths available in various heights for ergonomic loading. Some models also have an integrated water container whose weight eliminates the need to screw the appliance to the floor. The plinth can be moved easily if required.
Where space is limited, placing a washer-dryer combination next to each other can be a problem. Miele Professional's column washer-dryer is the perfect solution for these situations: Two high-performance appliances can be installed in less than half a square metre of floor space using a connection kit.
All the appliances in the Little Giants range can be networked with the Miele MOVE online portal. Authorised staff can view operating data on a PC, smartphone or tablet and see when a washing machine or tumble dryer has finished. Miele Service can also be contacted quickly if necessary – and the connection to the Miele Shop makes it easy to order cleaning supplies.
High-quality components such as special heater elements made of corrosion-resistant materials are part of what makes the appliances so long-lasting – and this service life can be extended using spare parts that will remain available for up to 15 years after the current appliance series is discontinued. What’s more, at least 95 percent of all components in the Little Giants range can be recycled – ensuring minimal impact on the environment.
