Miele at Analytica: Efficient, space-saving and networked machines for laboratories; expert talks

Gütersloh/Munich, March 13, 2024 No. 030/2024
  • New SlimLine lab washers adjust pump power to needs of process stages

  • Miele subsidiary Steelco presents steam steriliser with ECO system

With innovative products, Miele is to set out its stall on April 9 at the Analytica trade show in Munich (Hall B1, Booth 302). The focal point will be live events, including a demonstration of laboratory glassware reprocessing which will be staged several times each day. Furthermore, visitors can gather information on networked and space-saving lab washers from the SlimLine generation, the Miele MOVE online portal and numerous other products used to efficiently reprocess laboratory glassware. For the ultimate in hygiene, the company will also be presenting a steam steriliser manufactured by Miele's Steelco subsidiary. This product was specifically designed for use in research and development laboratories.

'How can organic and inorganic contamination be removed both without trace and without damaging materials'? Questions such as these will be answered by experts during sessions held each morning and each afternoon. Besides machine solutions, the exhibition will be about the use of process chemicals, matching accessories and tailored programmes – in short, everything that showcases Miele's cleaning expertise. Customers are more than welcome to bring along their questions and suggestions.

Miele lab washers from the SlimLine series will also be on live display in Munich. With a width of only 65 cm, these represent the ideal fit when lots of laboratory glassware has to be washed clean where space is limited. On the new PLW 7111 generation, intelligent technology adjusts pump power to the needs of the various programme stages. The benefit to users: Thoroughness, speed and lower water consumption. Without compromising results, these models use up to 15% less water than the previous generation.

The chamber on the new series is larger than before, offering a 15% increase in volume compared with models from the previous series. Thanks to the EasyLoad system familiar from earlier models, capacity can be further increased, above all in the case of frequently used laboratory glassware: As a result, 192 bottles (100 ml) can now be washed in a single cycle, 66 more than previously the case. The baskets and modules in which load items are automatically and correctly positioned can be combined individually – including a holder for a 50 l carboy.

Networking with Miele MOVE online portal

Lab washers from the most recent SlimLine series and undercounter models from the PG 85 series can be connected to the online Miele MOVE portal. This links machines with a PC, smartphone or tablet and ensures that relevant notifications can be called up on mobile devices, reminding users, for example, when a dishwasher is ready for unloading. This saves a lot of legwork and simplifies the life of staff. Also a boon to users: direct service contact. Miele MOVE reduces downtimes: the digital platform automatically generates detailed notifications which can be forwarded straight to Miele or an authorised Miele service partner by email. Besides this, Miele MOVE facilitates the monitoring of important process data such as temperatures and cycle times. This data is saved to the digital platform and can be exported fast.

For the sterilisation of heat- and moisture-resistant materials in research and science laboratories, including metal parts, fluids and waste classified with a BSL of S 1-4, a solution is provided by Steelco. The single-door VS 262839 L steam steriliser with a chamber volume of 462 l is characterised by short programme cycles and low consumption combined with top-level safety. A colour touch screen makes for simple operation and programming. In addition to this, the machine is also equipped with many components which go far beyond the standard, including the efficient ECO system which reduces water consumption compared with comparable machines by 35% on average.
