  • Miele subsidiary offers steam sterilizer with ECO system

With its steam sterilizers from the VS-L series, Miele's subsidiary Steelco represents a reliable and efficient solution for which there is big demand, above all, in laboratories in the fields of research and science. These applications often require the reprocessing of heat- and moisture-resistant materials – for instance metal parts and sealed or vented containers for liquids. Similarly, waste classified in biosafety levels (BSL) S 1-4, ranging from uncomplicated laboratory waste through to highly infectious pathogens, must be decontaminated. The single-door VS 262839 L steam sterilizer with a chamber volume of 462 l is designed for a mid-range capacity and is characterised by short programme cycles and low water and electricity consumption combined with top-level safety.

Thanks to 40 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and laboratory sectors, Steelco sterilizers come with many high-quality components and features which are seldomly included as standard. These have also proven their worth in reprocessing solid, liquid or porous goods and in autoclaving waste using the pre-vacuum and fractioning process. Features include, for example, pipework made from stainless steel and a compressed-air supply tank to ensure a firm door seal even in the event of a technical breakdown. A bio seal, a highly effective barrier to separate areas when a sterilizer is installed in a diaphragm wall, optional Siemens S 7 controls (with audit trail) – a popular industry standard – and an uninterruptible power supply (USP) are available options.

To guarantee the uniform distribution of heat, a double-skin chamber, welded using deep penetration technology and made from AISI 316/EN 1.4404 stainless steel, ensures maximum contact between the outer skin and the chamber. Thanks to the outer cladding and durable and reusable insulation material, maintenance is fast and cost-effective.

Sterilizers from Steelco are equipped with an efficient ECO system which reduces water consumption in comparison to competitors' products by 35% on average. It also extends the service life of the vacuum pump by cooling steam and condensate before it reaches the pump. Optionally, a chiller can be connected to reduce overall water consumption by 90%.

A colour touch screen with multi-stage access for different users creates the conditions for intuitive operation and user-friendly programming. Various standard cycles and optional, specialised and validated cycles are available to users. Together with full integration into the SteelcoData data documentation system, full traceability of all cycles and data as well as remote monitoring is possible.
